WORKSHOPS

Available for staff retreats, professional development, and educational settings. In-person preferred, Zoom possible.

1. Unblocking Creativity

Learn new techniques for unleashing creative flow, and unlearn what holds you back. Includes exercises and inspiration from poetry, visual arts, and improvisational theater.

3. Theater to Brighten The Mood, Enlighten the Mind and Lift the Heart

A mood boost, jolt of energy and inspiration, this workshop is the polar opposite of enduring yet more dull meetings or professional development. Workday permission to get back in touch with freedom, joy, and love of play.

4. Masks and Authenticity

Explore when we feel most authentic and when we put on masks. Grounded in theater traditions from around the globe, we experiment with exercises involving masks as we discover why we can feel more like ourselves when we put on a different face?

5. Modern Meaning Through Ancient Story

It’s easy to say what you do, but can you say why? What sources of meaning ground your daily activities and motivate your life’s course? Together, we turn back to the stories that stick around century after century. What can they tell us about how we can gain perspective and ground ourselves in an enduring sense of meaning? Engage with stories from a diverse spectrum of ancient cultures, including Norse mythology, Greek philosophy, Innuit legend, and Afro-Cuban folklore. Archetypes to slow down your modern mind, get away from phone alerts and back to the crackle of a good fire.

6. Media Boundaries

What media do you consume? How much? How often? What effect does it have on your attention span, your nervous system, your heart and soul? What would a wholesome media diet look like for you? What are your hopes and dreams for the way we interface with information, for yourself and for future generations?

7. Strengthening the Collaborative Spirit

Build scenes, work together.

8. Awakening to Body Language

This is not a course in firm handshakes or how to tower over someone to seal the deal. Explore with curiosity how the way we move throw the world makes us and others feel. When someone else rises up, do you shrink back? What do you do when someone tells you they’re fine but in their eyes you can read another story? And if a candid snapshot of you talking to a client were a painting in a museum, what would it make someone feel? What messages are you sending to colleagues, friends, and family members with everything except your words? How to become aware of the impact we have on others through the way we walk through the world, and how to notice what impact others have inside of us.    Grounded in the tradition of image theater.

9. Poetry for People Who Don’t Write Poetry

Forget any sense that poetry is something fancy that you don’t understand or were never taught right. What words would you howl from your gut at the edge of the sea? What sounds could fill your mouth that you’ve never told a soul? Departing the world of to-do lists, calendar reminders and invoices, what happens when you allow language to flow without an agenda? There is no right or wrong way to create poetry. Permission.

10. Improv for People Who Don’t Do Improv

If you’ve never been on a stage, that’s perfect. If doing improv with colleagues makes you want to roll your eyes, please, join us. Terrified of anything even vaguely related to acting? Perfect. Ease into improvisational theater with foundational concepts and practices, building skills bit by until, lo and behold, you’re improving!
